Fortnite's Futurama crossover is here and it includes a ton of references to the show, including Universe 1 variants for Fry, Leela, and Bender, as well as a new weapon to find on the Island.

Yesterday, the official Fortnite Twitter account teased that a Futurama crossover was inbound with a video of Hypnotoad and the Planet Express ship appearing in Mega City. Surprisingly, that tease has already been followed up on, as the latest update for Fortnite has dropped today and includes a surprisingly substantial amount of content from Futurama.

Let's start off with the big new additions first - the skins. As expected, the Futurama crossover comes with a skin for Fry, Bender, and Leela, who all look strikingly true to the show. Fry's skin pack comes with a Hypnotoad Back Bling, and a Giant Nutcracker pickaxe, which is a reference to the episode "Clawwpachk" where he fights Zoidberg to the death. Bender, meanwhile, has the Ben Rodríguez Back Bling and an unbendable girder from the episode "Bendless Love".

Then there's Leela, who, of course, has a Nibbler Back Bling, as well as the Solid Gold Fiddle from "Hell Is Other Robots". Interestingly, all three skins also have an alternate style that has them dressing up as their Universe 1 Variants. As is the case in the show itself, it's basically just a recolour, but it's a smart way of adding yet another reference to the crossover. Let's just imagine that Leela has her diamond scrunchie.

Surprisingly, the skins aren't all that's been added in this crossover, as there are a few new things that can be found on The Island too. As highlighted by the Fortnite blog post detailing this update, there's also a brand new gun that can be discovered on the island - "Bender's Shiny Metal Ray Gun", which will be on the island until the game's next update.

It seems that this gun is quite powerful, as it has unlimited ammo and runs on a cooldown, similar to the Star Wars blasters that we've seen in the past. Getting this gun won't be easy, however, as it either needs to be found or taken from Bender himself. The blog post notes that you can get it if you have the Gold Bars, but Twitter user iFireMonkey points out that Bender is actually a Boss NPC, so it seems like you can just take it from him yourself if you dare.
