Bloons Tower Defense 6 is considered by many to be one of the finest examples of the genre. Its wide variety of towers each bring something new and useful to the table, and the designs are packed with a fun personality. The game's monkeys are memorable in both their looks and power, which is likely a reason the series' success has been so enduring.

The sixth game took this even further with the addition of Heroes - even stronger units that can be placed only once per game. Each Hero has their own unique abilities that can prove invaluable, so deciding which one to choose can be tricky. Here, you can check out every Hero in Bloons TD 6 ranked by how good they are.

Updated July 19, 2023 by Jacqueline Zalace: While Heroes in Bloons Tower Defense 6 boast some powerful skills, not all of them are created equally. We've reordered our list a bit to reflect who is truly great. Additionally, we've added how to unlock each Hero, as well as their in-game cost.

14 Gwendolin

btd6 gwen
  • Abilities: Ranged Fire Attacks
  • How To Unlock: Reach Level 14
  • Purchase Price: $725

Gwen isn't an inherently terrible pick - every hero in BTD6 has at least a niche where they perform well. The issue is that while Gwen's niche is a useful one - her fire-based damage-over-time abilities are primarily concerned with crowd control and popping lead Bloons - she's outclassed for the role.

Her abilities are alright - her level three creating a Wall of Fire and her level ten burning all Bloons onscreen. She can also buff nearby monkeys, allowing them to inflict damage over time. Her level ten gives this to every monkey on screen, and at level 17, it provides a damage buff, but other heroes do this job better too.

13 Ezili

btd6 ezili
  • Abilities: Dark Arts Attacks and Hexes
  • How To Unlock: 3,000 Monkey Money
  • Purchase Price: $600

Ezili's first ability, Heartstopper, blocks Bloon regrowth, and her Sacrificial Totem gives comprehensive buffs to nearby monkeys at the cost of ten lives. This totem is strong, but due to requiring lives, is unusable in CHIMPS and Impoppable.

MOAB Hex is her level ten ability, allowing her to curse a MOAB-class Bloon, which will then take damage every second until it is destroyed. At level 20, this powerful hex even works on BADs. Ezili can typically hit level 20 in time for the round 100 BAD, but a defense that's already beaten rounds 98 and 99 probably doesn't need her assistance in finishing off the game.

12 Obyn Greenfoot

btd6 obyn greenfoot
  • Abilities: Controls a Spirit Wolf and Supports Druids
  • How To Unlock: Reach Level 28
  • Purchase Price: $650

Obyn Greenfoot is the last hero you can unlock entirely for free, and he's a great choice. His level-ups give him fantastic synergy with Druids, allowing him to serve as a strong cornerstone of any magic-based defenses you want to set up. While you won't always be using Druid-based strategies, Obyn is a must whenever you are.

Brambles allows Obyn to place a bush on the track to pop 50 Bloons that hit it, and Wall of Trees is an even more powerful blockade that bursts into money when destroyed. Though somewhat situational, Obyn is certainly a useful hero, and his default attack going through walls and popping leads is certainly a nice bonus.

11 Quincy

btd6 quincy
  • Abilities: Ranged Bow and Arrow Attacks
  • How To Unlock: Unlocked by Default
  • Purchase Price: $540

Quincy is the default hero players begin with, but that doesn't mean he's bad. True to Bloons' long-standing core concept, he's a monkey launching sharp objects, offering a fast fire rate, sharp seeking arrows good for crowd control, and early detection of camo Bloons. He's also cheap, making him great for game modes where money is particularly limited.

His abilities are Rapid Shot, which triples his attack speed, and Storm of Arrows, which deals massive area-of-effect damage. Though other heroes outclass him for pure DPS, Quincy is a useful asset with great potential at a low price, making him a great addition to any defensive setup.

10 Striker Jones

btd6 striker jones
  • Abilities: Ranged Explosions
  • How To Unlock: Reach Level 21
  • Purchase Price: $750

The damage Striker Jones himself deals isn't the best, but he offers fantastic buffs to both Bomb Shooters and Mortar Monkeys. Considering these towers are already strong in their own right, and can be made to work on most maps, it's easy to see where Jones' value comes from.

In addition to granting the aforementioned towers numerous passive buffs as he levels up, his level ten ability resets all of their cooldowns, allowing you to effectively double-dip on your MOAB Assassins/Eliminators, Artillery Batteries, or Pop and Awe. Striker Jones is a hero with a niche, but it's a useful one.

9 Admiral Brickell

btd6 admiral brickell
  • Abilities: Water-based Attacks and Support
  • How To Unlock: 5,000 Monkey Money
  • Purchase Price: $900

Admiral Brickell is designed entirely for water-based levels. She must be placed on water, and her abilities are Naval Tactics, which massively buff nearby water monkeys, and Mega Mine, which deploys a devastating sea mine to wreak havoc on Bloons. She also grants a passive buff to water monkeys when she hits a high enough level.

She's a powerful hero, and the only reason she doesn't rank higher is her limited niche - few maps in the game will require a defense made mostly of water monkeys. If you're playing a water map, though, then Admiral Brickell is the perfect choice.

8 Pat Fusty

btd6 pat fusty
  • Abilities: Strong Melee Attacks and Increased Damage Buffs
  • How To Unlock: 3,000 Monkey Money
  • Purchase Price: $800

Pat has two main abilities: his Rallying Roar, which buffs the towers around him, and his Big Squeeze, which grabs and destroys a nearby MOAB-class balloon (and eventually can target multiple at once). The Rallying Roar is not to be ignored - even before later levels upgrade it, +1 damage to any type of monkey nearby is a fantastic buff.

Pat can also be placed on both land and water - he's the only hero with this unique trait. This offers him some extra versatility, and combined with his decent main attacks and excellent abilities, he's a brilliant choice if you don't mind relying on ability timing.

7 Adora

btd6 adora
  • Abilities: Ranged 'Holy' Damage and Seeking Arrows
  • How To Unlock: 5,000 Monkey Money
  • Purchase Price: $1,000

Though her appearance suggests Heavenly Grace, Adora is a ruthless killer of Bloons. Her default attack is strong, and her abilities The Long Arm of the Light and Ball of Light allow her to deal massive damage by powering herself up and attacking a large area of effect respectively.

Her middle ability is what really makes her interesting, however. Blood Sacrifice allows you to sacrifice a chosen tower to Adora, giving her a temporary buff and a massive amount of permanent XP, which is how you counteract her slow leveling to get her to the high levels, where she shines.

6 Psi

btd6 psi
  • Abilities: Magical Sniper Moves and Ability To Freeze Bloons
  • How To Unlock: 5,000 Monkey Money
  • Purchase Price: $1,000

Psi's default attack functions a bit like a slower sniper, albeit not needing line of sight, so at first glance. Their Psychic Blast ability deals damage and knockback over an area of effect, which can come in handy in a pinch.

The advantage comes with Psi's other ability, Psionic Scream. By default, it freezes and destroys all nearby Bloons, and at level 20, eliminates everything on screen. The only reason they're not number one is that it can't affect BADs, and this takes so long to unlock that many shorter games will be over by the time you get it.

5 Captain Churchill

btd6 churchill
  • Abilities: Explosions
  • How To Unlock: 2,500 Monkey Money
  • Purchase Price: $2,000

Churchill starts off pretty strong, firing shells that explode through multiple Bloons, which can be buffed by his level three ability. When he hits level five, he gets a fast-firing machine gun that shreds through grouped Bloons, and at level six, he sees camo, covering his only weakness.

His level ten ability bombards up to ten on-screen MOABs, which, combined with his very powerful main attacks, makes him one of the best mid-game damage dealers available. His Bloon-focused damage doesn't scale super well into the late-game MOAB spam, but he can carry you very hard up until that point.

4 Sauda

btd6 sauda
  • Abilities: Quick Blade Attacks
  • How To Unlock: 5,000 Monkey Money
  • Purchase Price: $600

Sauda's Leaping Sword Attack blocks the track, popping everything that reaches that spot, as well as popping lead Bloons. Her level ten is Sword Charge; when this is activated, she'll sweep the entire track, laying waste to every Bloon in her path. Once she reaches level 20, the ability upgrades so that she makes three passes instead of one.

This Hero's main strength is her default attack - rapidly slashing at any nearby Bloons, destroying them with ease. To top it off, she can see camo straight from level one. Her short range makes her very map dependent, but in a corner, U-bend, or even full circle, she can go solo for upwards of 40 rounds, making her arguably the best early-game carry in BTD6.

3 Etienne

btd6 etienne
  • Abilities: Drone Control
  • How To Unlock: 5,000 Monkey Money
  • Purchase Price: $850

Etienne flies his drones around and uses them to shoot oncoming Bloons, a bit like weaker Heli Pilots. His abilities allow him to spawn several more of these drones for increased firepower (Drone Swarm) and call in a bigger drone that functions a bit like a Monkey Ace (UCAV).

At level eight, Etienne allows every tower on the map to see camo Bloons - this is invaluable as you get it quite early and it saves you having to worry about who can or can't see camo, and gives you more freedom to choose stronger upgrade paths. His level 20 also makes the UCAV permanent, greatly increasing Etienne's damage potential.

2 Geraldo

btd6 geraldo
  • Abilities: Sells Unique Towers and Items
  • How To Unlock: 5,000 Monkey Money
  • Purchase Price: $700

Geraldo is quite different from other heroes - instead of gaining abilities as he levels up, he starts with a shop you can access, and adds to or upgrades his stock as his level increases. Everything he stocks is very cheap and very useful - there is pretty much no scenario in which Geraldo doesn't have something excellent to offer.

His Shooty Turrets are a cost-effective option for early game; his Sharpening Stone is a great buff and his Rejuv Potion resets every ability cooldown. He also has Worn Hero's Cape which lets you get a Super Monkey way cheaper than the usual price. Overall, he has something for just about every situation, including a rare Quincy action figure.

1 Benjamin

btd6 benjamin
  • Abilities: Hacking Skills to Earn More Money
  • How To Unlock: 3,000 Monkey Money
  • Purchase Price: $1,200

Benjamin is less of a direct attacker than many other heroes, but he more than makes up for it in other ways. At level 4, Benjamin gains the "Skimming" passive, which gives you one monkey dollar for every Bloon spawned. This almost doubles your early-game income, allowing you to start building farms much faster.

His abilities are Biohack, which buffs nearby monkeys, and Syphon Funding, which downgrades all incoming Bloons and doubles the cash earned from popping them. He also boosts the rate of interest earned by Monkey Banks, making him a must-have if you're going for some big-money strats.
