Whether you prefer playing GTA or Red Dead Redemption, the online multiplayer feature is a beloved staple of Rockstar games. In GTA Online, there's a ton of mayhem, frustration, and fun times to be shared with friends, with the plethora of in-game activities and seemingly endless added content through all the consistent new updates.

In 2017, the release of the Smuggler's Run DLC saw the addition of a new Air Freight Business. It introduced Hangars players could buy from the Maze Bank Foreclosures app, equipped with CEO offices to fulfill the contraband cargo missions via the skies. The DLC also brought along new aircraft, and with Hangars vital for storing 20 of them, you probably want to know which to own.

Updated on July 22, 2023, by Dennis Moiseyev: The new 2023 San Andreas Mercenaries Update made some changes and new additions to the Hangar side of things in GTA Online, so this calls for an update of our own to break some things down. Since there weren't any new Hangars added, all the rankings are as stands, but feel free to see how all these Hangars rank if you don't own one already. And all the new information on Hangars will come to you right here.

San Andreas Mercenaries Update And Hangars

With the San Andreas Mercenaries Update, investing in a Hangar for the Air-Freight Cargo business has never been more worthwhile, especially since you can now get around the setup and pay a fee of $20,000 to get it running. MK2 Weapons Workshops can also be placed inside a Hangar, so you can do some upgrading to your favorite weapons at your convenience while you're visiting the spot. Also, the Mammoth Avenger can now be stored and fully customized in Hangars as well.

Another feature you may appreciate is easier access to San Andreas Flight School, which appears as a blue poster on Hangar walls, prompting you to access it right from there. And on top of four new additional Source missions and three new Sell missions, you can go on a little scavenger hunt around your Hangars to see if you got any free weapons or snack pick-ups somewhere in there.

And finally, the Hangars have also received the aid of Rooster McCraw from the Cayo Perico Heist, now an affiliate of the Los Santos Angels mercenary group, to source cargo for you exactly like the Warehouse Staff in the Special Cargo business.

5 Hangar A2 - Fort Zancudo

Priced at $3,250,000, this is the most expensive Hangar available in the game. From the outside, it looks heavily fortified, and the Hangar doors are giant and spread wide to ensure easy access for the aircraft that'll be stored inside. The area it's situated in is also pretty central for this airport base, Fort Zancudo, and close to any available nearby jets.

Considering that this location is a military establishment, owning it absolves you of having a wanted level and getting into trouble with the law. This is particularly helpful when you have no choice but to fly over this area.

It all sounds good so far, right? Well, any Hangar property you purchase in Fort Zancudo will give you low-level clearance and automatically get the cavalry off your tail. Also, the interior of every Hangar is always the same. You can only customize certain things based on your preferences, such as lighting, decals, paint styles, and furniture.

There's definitely no need to pay such a hefty price to secure a Hangar in GTA Online. Earning that much money will require spending copious time on jobs and safely netting the income while avoiding pesky player interference.

4 Hangar A17 - Los Santos International Airport

Hangar A17 in the Los Santos International Airport won't cost you an arm and a leg to acquire — it's the cheapest in the game at $1.2 million. The exterior has an almost barnlike appearance, and it looks very shabby and decrepit. There's also the signature Pegasus logo across the top, but it doesn't really do much for the charm.

The Hangar doors also appear much smaller for entry than the ones on the A2 in Fort Zancudo, so there could be trouble when parking planes safely. A final con is that because it's in Los Santos Airport, you won't clear your wanted level like you would with a Fort Zancudo Hangar.

Its location within the airport is much farther from the entrance than Hangar 1, the other available Hangar here. That distance will become an issue when attempting to complete missions and get your aircraft safely inside the Hangar, away from the threats of other online players. However, it's inexpensive and will store the same number of planes as the $3 million Hangar at Zancudo.

3 Hangar 3499 - Fort Zancudo

Hangar A17 is the furthest down on the Los Santos Airport side of the map, and Hangar 3499 is the furthest away from the other two Hangars on the Fort Zancudo side. The location is not ideal, as you'll experience the same troubles of trying to successfully avoid fodder from enemy players while also trying to turn a profit from the Hangar through the cargo smuggling missions. The location alone doesn't make it worth the whopping $2, 650,000 it costs.

However, you're still saving $600,000 on a Fort Zancudo Hangar location, which means you get the perk of flying over and landing securely at the airport base without fear of the heat and a hounding attack from land and air upon your arrival. That's incentive enough to put this one ahead of the A2 Hangar. Another upside is that the doors on this one are also quite tall and should be comfortable enough to park any jet inside.

2 Hangar 1 - Los Santos International Airport

The second Hangar available at Los Santos International Airport is a much better option than the A17. Granted, it's a tad more expensive at $1,525,000, but that still keeps it under $2 million. The extra $300k in the amount is well worth it because of factors such as location and appearance.

It's a towering Hangar that feels as fortified and secure as the A2 Hangar in Fort Zancudo but with a more refined structural design. The entry doors span almost the entire length of the Hangar's front side, providing a terrific opening to park any aircraft without a hitch.

But its location in Los Santos Airport presents a drawback because the smuggling missions frequently occur on the opposite side of the map in Sandy Shores or Paleto Bay. Those two destinations are nearest to the Fort Zancudo Hangars, and sometimes getting to Paleto Bay could require you to fly through the Zancudo base. You'll immediately receive a wanted level doing this and will have to evade enemy fire because of the lack of clearance.

1 Hangar 3497 - Fort Zancudo

Hangar 3497 allows for the best of both worlds. First off, it's the best deal available in the Fort Zancudo location at a more reasonable $2,085,000. Second, it's the first Hangar on the lot and the closest one to reach. Once again, the fact that it's a Hangar inside Fort Zancudo gets you in the clear from that dreaded wanted level.

Another added perk is that its location is conveniently close to the base's epic Laser airplane that you can take out for a joyride. The only major downside to the Zancudo 3497 is its exterior design and door features. The Hangar structure is smaller than the others, especially Hangar 1 in Los Santos Airport and the neighboring A2, and the door seems slightly lower. However, its design is still similar in fashion to the 3499, and you also certainly can't beat the price and location.
