As your Sims' professional lives flourish in The Sims 4, their career trajectories may reach new heights, but their work outfits never seem to change to reflect this. Despite the wide range of clothing options available, your Sim will likely never change their work outfit regardless of whether they received a promotion in their current job, or have changed to a different occupation altogether.
While the game doesn't provide a direct way to change your Sim's work attire, there is a way to work around the game's constraints through the cheat console. Read on, and we'll reveal how you can change your Sim's work outfit in a flash.
Changing your Sim's work outfit is impossible to achieve without the use of cheats. If you had intended your playthrough to be cheat free, you will not be able to change your Sim's work attire for the entirety of the game.
The Create-A-Sim Menu
The Create-A-Sim menu has always allowed you to fully shape your Sim to your liking. You can customise their physical appearance, voice, aspirations, traits, as well as their outfits.
While you can open up the CAS menu again to edit Sims in your household, the version of CAS offered does not let you change your Sim's work outfit.
Fret not, however, as there is a specific cheat command to allow you to modify the clothes your Sim goes to work in.
How To Enable The Cheat Console
Before you can meddle around with your Sim's work wardrobe, you'll need to open up the cheat console and enable cheats for your play session.
To access cheats, press CTRL + SHIFT + C at the same time to bring up the cheat text box on PC. On console, you need to press all four shoulder buttons at once. If you see a text box appear in the top left corner of your screen, you're ready for the next step.
Once the cheat console is open, type "testingcheats on" or "testingcheats true" and hit enter.
You should see a confirmation message in the text box if you're successful.
The Modify Career Outfit In CAS Cheat
In the cheat console, enter "sims.modify_career_outfit_in_cas" to bring up the CAS menu to specifically modify the appearance of your Sim's work outfit.
This version of the CAS menu is extremely powerful and offers a lot more freedom in customising the work outfit for your Sim.
You can mix and match tops and bottoms, accessorise with sunglasses, hats, and earrings, or choose a full body costume.
Once you're happy with the changes you've made, hit the tick in the bottom right corner. Your Sim should now go to work in the clothes you selected for them.
