DLC Overviews
The Sims 4 Base Game is free to play, but many fans will begin to look at the DLC options if they play a lot. There are currently four different types of DLC and a lot of content in each category which can make choosing overwhelming. However, we have a range of reviews and overviews to help.
Firstly, here's what you can expect from each type of DLC.
Expansion Packs
Expansions are the largest packs, costing $39.99 in the US. They focus on adding several new features across the game. Big gameplay additions are the main focus, backed up with a large range of complimentary furniture, build items, and clothing. Expansions also include a new world - except for Seasons which overhauled the existing ones instead.
Game Packs
Game packs are essentially more limited expansion packs and are half the price at $19.99. They also cover all three main areas of gameplay but are smaller scale. They will tend to focus on substantial but smaller gameplay concepts, backed up by smaller worlds and more limited selections of items and clothing.
Stuff Packs
Stuff packs were the budget pack for a long time, priced at $9.99, and have more focus on clothing and build and buy items. They will usually include minor gameplay additions, but these tend to be linked to specific items. With these packs the later they came out the more content they tend to have. The early packs are quite sparse, while the more recent ones have more gameplay additions as well as the expected items.
Kits
Kits are designed to focus on a specific area of the game, either gameplay, building, or create a sim (although currently there is only one gameplay kit) They then offer a small amount of items in a niche theme for $4.99.
Below are links to overviews for all DLC packs to date. For more recent larger packs there are also some scored and unscored reviews.
