There is a lot to do in The Elder Scrolls Online MMO even without an ESO Plus membership. From a plethora of different quests to undertake to all the different areas to explore, you can easily sink hundreds of hours into the game. One of the more unique quests in the game that's part of the Blackwood expansion is the Shattered and Scattered quest.

The Shattered and Scattered quest in The Elder Scrolls Online features a slightly branching path that involves saving some characters. Characters that can and will die if you choose wrongly. This guide will help you save those characters and complete the Shattered and Scattered quest.

Beginning Shattered And Scattered

Shattered and Scattered can be started by talking to Mirri Elendis outside Doomvault Vulpinaz which is located north of Leyawiin in the Niben Forest located in Blackwood. Mirri is first seen arguing with someone so you'll have to wait unitl the argument is over to talk to Mirri.

Once the argument is over, she will explain to you that she, her brother Liam and four other adventurers were asked to launch an expedition into a ruin that ended up being a Daedric ruin. Mirri believes the woman who hired them, Xigira, is to blame and Mirri will ask for your help in rescuing her brother and friends.

Navigating Shattered And Scattered

Once Shattered and Scattered has been started, head inside the Doomvault and head north until you see the sky. After this, you need to grapple over to a ledge across a river to investigate the expedition's camp. As you approach the camp, Mirri will recognize one of her group members, a nord named Eolaf, hooked up to a device of some kind.

Here Xigira will taunt him as surrounding Mehrunes Dagon cultists are using crystals to power the Soul Siphon Array. In order to help Eolaf you will need to destroy the crystals.

Freeing Eolaf

Now here's where Shattered and Scattered branches a bit in the Elder Scrolls Online. Eolaf can either live or die based on what order you destroy the crystals.

There are outer crystals and a middle one that need to be destroyed. Destroying the middle while ignoring the outer crystals will cause the person in the trap, Eolaf in this case, to die. Mirri's dialogue in the quest will vary based on whether you saved her friends and brother.

You will notice a trail of magic connected to the middle crystal that leads up to a large crystal on a cliff. Grapple up to the cliff then destroy this crystal before the small crystal in front of Eolaf to save him. After that talk to Mirri and continue through the door on the other side of the hallway to continue to search for Mirri's friends.

Freeing Ardia

Towards the end of the next area, you will find the journal of another of Mirri's companions in Shattered and Scattered, a high elf named Ardia. Read it and then talk to Mirri before heading through the door.

You will need to grapple across the first gap and you will be presented with three crystals holding Ardia in place. There are two crystals on cliffs to the east and west of Ardia. Grapple up to these points and once again destroy these crystals before destroying the one in front of Ardia to save her.

After freeing Ardia, talk to Mirri where the former will inform you that Xigira is actually a dremora that serves Mehrunes Dagon.

Encountering Ghalor And Freeing Deejos

Move into the next area to find the Doomvault already beginning to merge with Oblivion plane known as the Deadlands. Proceed forward to encounter someone Mirri recognizes. It is another person of her group, a wood elf named Ghalor who is not strapped to a device. Mirri calls out to her but he doesn't seem to notice.

Walk up to Ghalor to look at him closely and then talk to Mirri to discover that Ghalor is now soul shriven. His soul now at the mercy of Mehrunes Dagon, showing you what would happen if you don't partake in the Shattered and Scattered quest.

Moving past Ghalor, there are two paths forward that lead to the same place, where the next captive, an argonian named Deejos, is being held.

Once again, there are three crystals on top of the middle one that needs to be destroyed. The first one is north of where Mirri pointed out Deejos' presence which can be grappled too. The second crystal is located southwest of that across a bridge. Turn left at the bridges end to find another grapple point to destroy it.

Now destroy the center crystal to free Deejos who will be escorted by Mirri into the next area.

Freeing Liam

Now that Deejos is free, head into the next area where you will have to fight your way through Daedra until you reach a gate with Xigira waiting who holds Liam hostage. She will retreat through a gate that she seals with magic. Talk to Mirri and she will tell you how you can remove the seal.

There are three levers that will remove the seal on the gate. The first lever is located directly in front of the door on a pedestal. The other two are located to the northeast and south of the door which are both reachable with the grappling hook. Once those are pulled, the gate will unlock and you can proceed inside.

Xigira is in the middle of the next room, but the fight with her is actually optional. Whether you decide to fight her or not, you still need to save Liam. Before you grapple up to Liam and destroy the center crystal, you need to destroy the other two crystals or else he will die.

One is located south of Liam and the other is located to the northeast of him. Destroy those and then the center crystal to free Liam and save his life. After that, follow Mirri through the door.

Shattered And Scattered Quest Rewards

Once you are out of the Doomvault, talk to Mirri to complete the quest. Should you have made the right choices in Shattered and Scattered, she will be elated that her brother is safe and will tell you that you can count on her help should you need anything.

Regardless of the choices made during Shattered and Scattered, you will receive some gold to spend, XP and Mirri is now a companion that can be summoned.
