11 The Outlast Trials

The Outlast games are very popular for their intense chase sequences and mature themes. It is one of the few horror games that does not allow you to fight back, therefore amplifying danger.

The newest Red Barrels game was made to be compatible with the Steam Deck.

You can now enjoy Outlast with friends and in the comfort of your bed. The Outlast Trials is a standalone Outlast game where you get to play with up to four people who must complete trials for the Murkoff Corporation.

It is worth noting that the two first Outlast games are marked Playable on the Steam Deck, but not one hundred percent Verified.

10 Resident Evil Games

The majority of the Resident Evil games have been made completely Verified for the Steam Deck. When people think of classic horror game franchises that you need to try, Resident Evil is one of them.

Every Resident Evil game on the Steam storefront is one hundred percent Verified except four of them.

Resident Evil Revelations and Resident Evil 3 are marked Playable. Resident Evil 5 and 0 are Unsupported.

Nevertheless, the newer RE games and remasters are Verified for the Steam Deck. You will want to pick up the Resident Evil games sooner or later.

9 Amnesia Rebirth

Amnesia was one of the very first horror games that people were spreading the word about. Everyone was playing it and at the time, it was one of the scariest games.

At the moment, the only Amnesia game that is marked Verified for the Steam Deck is the most recent release, Amnesia Rebirth.

Dusk is a small game made by independent developers who wanted to recreate 90s retro gaming. This is a retro FPS game with floating skulls and deadly cultists ready to hunt you down, and the game even has a metal soundtrack.

Dusk was made for those who used to play shooters in the 90s or those who simply enjoy that era of chaotic gaming. There are multiple game modes such as multiplayer, Endless Survival, and three campaigns.

7 Dead By Daylight

Everyone is playing Dead By Daylight, and you probably have someone on your Steam friend list that has over 1,000 hours in the game, we all do. Dead By Daylight is a classic that other games have yet to replicate successfully, and there is a lot that can go into playing a game like this.

This classic game is still available on Steam and better yet, completely Verified for the Steam Deck. If you missed out on playing this gem or simply want to replay it during your downtime, you will be able to run it successfully on the Steam Deck.

It's worth noting that the newest Aliens game, multiplayer Aliens: Fireteam Elite, is also Verified.

5 Little Nightmares 1 & 2

Little Nightmares is a unique type of horror game. It relies heavily on its art form with storytelling and platforming mechanics.

Little Nightmares is very immersive and memorable. You get to play as a little girl trapped in a submarine full of large monsters and adults who want to eat you.

There is a second game that is also Verified for the Steam Deck, and the game was meant to be played with a controller, so it only makes sense. Little Nightmares is a game people cannot get enough of even after finishing it.

4 Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid is more than just a survival game. It is by far one of the more scary zombie survival games out there.

The art style and gameplay mechanics may not evoke that horror just by looking at it, but once you are in the game you will understand.

There is no ambient music and the game is meant to be extremely hard. Just a scratch on your arm could spell your end.

Project Zomboid is immersive and challenging and can be played alone or with others.

3 Five Nights At Freddy's Games

Five Nights At Freddy's will be a classic horror game we tell our children about in the future. Every single FNAF game on the Steam storefront is marked Verified for the Steam Deck.

You will be able to replay one of your favorites while on the toilet or start one game everyone has been telling you to try.

The games are relatively small and easy to control no matter what you are using, keyboard or controller. This makes the game easy to use on any platform.

2 Soma

Soma is a terrifying psychological horror game. It was made by the same creators of Amnesia: The Dark Decent, so you know it's good.

Think of Aliens: Isolation yet underwater. If the creatures above are not as frightening as the creatures below, perhaps Soma is a better fit for you.

In the game, you are trapped in a sunken submarine where no one survived but you. There is no food, people, or help. Just you and the bottom of the ocean.

And whatever secrets are hiding there. In Soma, you can't fight back which makes things all the more scary.

1 Devour

Devour is a light-hearted game for you and a group of friends to play. There are a lot of Phasmophobia-like games where you and a group of friends try to lure out beasts of the paranormal and put an end to their terror.

Devour is similar, except it is one of the only ones marked Verified for the Steam Deck.

Perhaps you are sleeping over at a friend's, but can't bring your whole PC with you. This is a multiplayer horror game that would suit you well.

You can play Devour with up to four people in a group, including yourself. Devour has a solo mode as well as a more challenging mode.
