Thank god Armored Core 6 won't have a poison swamp. I can't tell you the pain I experienced playing through Blighttown on a crappy hand-me-down laptop, slowly withering away while I stuttered to death, or as I ventured beyond the hills (or under them) for the fifth time in Elden Ring just to find another poison swamp. FromSoft loves 'em, fans love to hate 'em, but we're getting a break with AC6.

Speaking to Eurogamer during a hands-off preview, game director Masaru Yamamura revealed that there are no poison swamps in the game. This is likely because Dark Souls creator and FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki isn't working on Armored Core. He's busy with Elden Ring's DLC.

Miyazaki was the director and producer on Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3, Sekiro, and Elden Ring, all of which feature the notoriously painful swamps. One fan even broke down the number of swamps in each game, revealing that Dark Souls 2 has zero, Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, and Sekiro have one each, Bloodborne has two (or 302 if you count Chalice Dungeons), while Elden Ring has at least seven.

The two games he wasn't director on, Dark Souls 2 and Armored Core 6, conveniently have none, so we can chalk up poison swamps as another Miyazaki speciality.

Of course, there's some debate over whether Dark Souls 2 has zero poison swamps since it has at least three areas riddled with poison. But these are either underground caverns filled with poison traps, puddles, and enemies, or a valley flooded with gas - they're not really swamps, just bloody annoying.

Miyazaki nearly included another swamp in Dark Souls, as pointed out by King Bore. They found cut content revealing lily pads and foliage that would've been placed in Lost Izalith by the weird walking dragon butts - this is an area you can't traverse without a special ring, otherwise, you burn to death incredibly fast. Now, imagine that with poison.

Thankfully, it never saw the light of day. And unless Armored Core 6's devs are toying with us, we'll have a bliss poison swamp-free time when it launches on August 25.
