Epic Games continues to surprise us with the amount of original content that Fortnite gets with every chapter and season. Chapter 4 Season 3 came with a lot of items that completely redefine the game and the way you interact with it. The Kinetic Boomerang is one of those, and it offers you a unique way to fight your opponents.
The Kinetic Boomerang is based around Kinetic Ore technology, an in-game concept that was added as part of the new Fortnite chapter and its lore. The previous season's Kinetic Blade, which was also a unique weapon, functioned with the same concept and technology in mind. Here's how you can obtain this weapon.
How To Get The Kinetic Boomerang
There are multiple ways to get the Kinetic Boomerang in Fortnite.
The first and most common one would be getting it from chests or ground loot across the new Chapter 4 Season 3 map.
Additionally, it may spawn more frequently as ground loot in the new jungle added in Season 3.
If you want to secure a guaranteed chance at getting the Kinetic Boomerang before anyone else, then you'll have to loot them from Boomerang Stands.
These stands can be found around the new Season 3 POIs such as Rumble Ruins and Shady Stilts. Simply find a Boomerang Stand, walk up to it, then press and hold the "Search" button/key.
Doing this will warp the boomerang to the ground, allowing you to pick it up.
In case you have plenty of gold bars to spare, you can visit Guardian Amara to buy the Kinetic Boomerang.
Guardian Amara allows you to buy Kinetic Boomerangs from her for 250 gold bars. She's located at the Brutal Bastion POI in the snowy and mountainous region of the map.
How To Use The Kinetic Boomerang
As the name implies, the Kinetic Boomerang works just like a conventional boomerang would.
You can throw it at anyone or anything to deal damage whilst expecting it to eventually return.
The only difference with this boomerang is that it has Kinetic Ore properties, giving it a special ability that a normal boomerang wouldn't have.
To use it, put it into your hands, loosely target something and press the button/keybind that allows you to shoot.
You can also trigger a small explosion whilst it is in the air by pressing the ADS button/keybind.
By doing this, you're effectively activating its recall mechanism, and the explosion deals AOE damage to anyone that is close to the Kinetic Boomerang.
The Kinetic Boomerang deals a solid 60 damage upon a hit to the body, and 110 damage if it impacts your opponent's head.
It also has lock-on capabilities at times, so you won't have to be that precise with it when targeting players that are gliding.
The Kinetic Boomerang has no cooldown, so you can quite literally spam it and use it against unaware players in mid-close range scenarios.
You can also use the Kinetic Boomerang and its recall ability to damage structures. For example, aiming and letting it loose on destructible surfaces will inflict 100 damage. This is amplified if you use the recall explosion as it impacts whatever you've thrown it at.
The Kinetic Boomerang may not be the best weapon out in Fortnite right now. However, it still packs a punch if you know how to use it correctly.
