It took more than half a decade, but Fortnite has finally made the Battle Bus playable in some form thanks to another crossover with Transformers.

Ever since Fortnite's battle royale mode went live in 2017, it's quickly ballooned into one of the most iconic games out there which has had the effect of making several things in Fortnite just as iconic, such as Chug Jugs, victory royales, Loot Llamas, and, of course, hitting the griddy. One of the most iconic elements of Fortnite is the Battle Bus, which you see at the start of every match as you get ready to drop.

As iconic as the Battle Bus has become over the past six years, it's never had much more of a role than bringing players over to the Island, save for that time in the game's second season when you could drive an armoured version of it. Well, it looks like ferrying time is over for the Battle Bus, as it's finally becoming a playable character in its own right thanks to another crossover with Transformers.

Over on the Fortnite news blog, Epic Games shared a post that details a new bundle called the Transformers Pack that adds three new Transformers skins to the game. As great as Bumblebee and Megatron look, the third skin is truly the star of the show here, as it turns Fortnite's iconic Battle Bus into an Autobot, finally making it playable in some capacity.

The aptly-named "Fortnite Battlebus" outfit comes with the skin itself, which is hilariously captioned, "Beep! Beep! See you on the… me?", as well as a Bot Air balloon back bling that's supposed to resemble the bus' hot-air balloon. Finally, it also comes with a Pick Axle pickaxe, which is just the icing on the cake for making me never want to write these names out again. The Fortnite website even points out how strange the crossover is, saying, "The Fortnite Battle Bus is not an official Transformers character, but that doesn’t mean it can’t get in on the fun too".

Although it's not officially confirmed on the blog post, it seems incredibly likely that the Fortnite Battlebus Autobot is going to be made into a toy at some point in the near future. Fortnite already has a ton of merchandise, but a unique crossover like this that's been licensed by Hasbro is just screaming to be turned into something that I can chuck on my shelf proudly. Hey, if we've already got a Battle Bus toy, there's no reason we shouldn't get the Transformers version.
