After nearly half a year of silence, Kingdom Hearts fans are starting to question what the heck is going on with Missing Link and when we're likely to next hear about it.

Last year as part of Kingdom Hearts' 20th anniversary celebrations, Square Enix revealed several new titles for the series, with the standout announcement, of course, being Kingdom Hearts 4. That was big enough on its own but it also revealed a new mobile game called Kingdom Hearts Missing Link that aimed to bridge the gap between Union X and Dark Road while also debuting a new 3D battle system that's more reminiscent of the mainline titles.

When it was initially announced, Missing Link was initially promised to have a closed beta test in 2022, something that didn't end up happening as it got pushed back into the start of 2023. That closed beta test seemed to go pretty well, which made the release of Missing Link seem like it wasn't too far away.

That was all the way back in February, though. We're nearly at the end of July and we've heard absolutely nothing about the game ever since then, which is causing some Kingdom Hearts fans to wonder where exactly it is. A few days ago, prominent Kingdom Hearts YouTuber SkywardWing shared a tweet wondering aloud about the status of Missing Link, saying, "I really thought Kingdom Hearts Missing Link would’ve released in July. It would’ve at least been announced by now I’d hope. Wondering what happened with that closed beta/whatever else is taking so long."

SkywardWing isn't the only one wondering, however. Twitter user _xFenrir shared a few screenshots of Missing Link the other day and the comments are full of Kingdom Hearts fans joking that the game is living up to its name and wondering where it could possibly be. Heading over the Kingdom Hearts subreddit shows a range of posts asking about the game and when it might release, showing that it's on the mind of a lot of fans right now.

It's worth noting that Tetsuya Nomura claimed back in February that development of the game was around 50 percent complete, which meant that there was still quite a lot of work to be done on the game. However, the fact that there's been no announcements of any kind is a little surprising considering news about the game was fairly consistent up until the beta. That being said, this isn't the first time that Missing Link has gone a while without any updates, as nearly the exact same thing actually happened last year too.

Some fans are even expressing concern about the state of the game, but it's more than likely that the team making it just needs a little more time to work on it, rather than it being in some big kind of trouble. Well, there was that time Nomura said something had changed the direction of the series, but let's not think about that.
