How To Find The Megamaki

Bugsnax Wiggle singing to the Megamaki

The Megamaki fight is the climax of Wiggle's series of personal quests that involve her search for inspiration through eating Bugsnax - because what else could inspire her? You'll have to complete two prerequisite side quests before you unlock the third and final quest that involves the Megamaki.

  • The first quest is Yellow Submarine, where Wiggle requests some Sub Sandopedes.
  • The second quest is Fly Me to the Moon, where Wiggle needs a White Cheepoof instead.

With those complete, you can take on Dance with the Dragon which takes place in Boiling Bay. You'll need to have convinced Floofty to return to Snakburg to start this, also.

When you take this quest on, you'll be transported to Boiling Bay automatically. Walk with Wiggle over to the shipwreck and she'll start singing in an attempt to summon a legendary Bugsnax - and it works.

How To Defeat The Megamaki

Bugsnax Megamaki Fight

Defeating the Megamaki is a relatively simple task. Your tools of choice for this fight are the Trip Shot and the Bug Net.

When the fight starts, chopsticks will rise out of the ocean and the Megamaki will start patrolling the area. Scan it to be able to see its path with purple arrows.

Your goal here is to trip the Megamaki with your Trip Shot, which you can attach to the chopsticks or to any of the wooden structures dotted around the map. Alternatively, you can attach the Trip Shot to your Lunchpad.

When the Megamaki hits the Trip Shot wire, it will break into all of its constituent pieces like a Sandopede. Your goal here is to run after the erratic Minimakis and scoop them up with your Bug Net. After the twenty seconds of vulnerability have elapsed, they'll reform into the Megamaki. It'll start flying through the air instead of walking on the ground, but the fight remains the same. Use the Trip Shot to knock the Megamaki out of the air.

Periodically, the Megamaki will spit out a torrent of flying fish roe at you. This isn't too dangerous, but they can destroy any chopsticks and your Trip Shot, which is frustrating. When it uses this attack, move away from the chopsticks to keep them safe.

Once you've caught every Minimaki that used to be part of the Megamaki's body, you'll be able to scoop up the Megamaki as it stops moving around. Feed it to Wiggle to complete her quest.

Once the fight is over, you can find Minimaki around Boiling Bay if you want to catch more.

How To Refight Megamaki

After beating the Megamaki and turning in the quest, a statue will appear on a sandy outcropping out to sea. Interact with it, and you'll be given the chance to refight the Megamaki.
