11 years after the launch of the last game in the series, FromSoftware has finally revived Armored Core. Releasing on August 25, 2023, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon will put you back in control of the iconic series' mechs. Clearly keen to capitalize on the massive success of Elden Ring with a very different series, FromSoftware will not only be hoping Armored Core fans will be hungrier than ever after making its fans wait more than a decade for something new, but that it has also curried enough favor with Elden Ring players that they'll want to take Fires of Rubicon for a spin too.

Whether you're a returning Armored Core player who isn't fully sold on Fires Of Rubicon recapturing the magic of the series, or a new player pulled in by the hype, sticking with the standard edition of the game might be the right choice for you. No added content, whether it be physical freebies or in-game ones, but you will unlock the Melander C3 G13 early if you pre-order. If you don't, the special customization can be unlocked by progressing through the game anyway.

Only available digitally, Armored Core 6's Deluxe Edition comes with a few added extras. Well worth the additional $10 whether you're a returning fan or new to the series.

Sometimes it's nice to get a little extra with a big new game without having to pay twice as much as you would for the game alone. If you're looking for that sort of middle ground, then Armored Core 6's Deluxe Edition may well be the best option for you. As well as getting the base game and the same pre-order bonus that comes with the standard edition if you opt-in before release day, you'll also get a digital artbook and soundtrack. Best of all, even with the added extras, it costs $70 which is the triple-A standard for other studios right now.

Collector's Edition

The price jumps up quite a bit here, but this is where the serious Armored Core fans need to pay attention. After waiting more than a decade for a new game, paying some extra cash for a lot of extra stuff might be exactly what you want come August 25.

Pre-Order Bonus

  • MELANDER C3 G13 Special Customization

Additional Content

  • Armored Core figurine
  • Steelbook
  • Artbook
  • Digital soundtrack
  • Stickers
  • Pinbadges

Here's where the serious editions come into play. Armored Core 6's Collector's Edition costs more than the previous two editions combined, but there's a reason for that. Not only do you get everything already listed in the previous editions, but you also get a physical artbook, an exclusive steelbook, stickers, pinbadges, and best of all, the industry standard when it comes to this sort of thing, a statue to seriously sweeten the deal. And just look at it, a thing of beauty.

Premium Collector's Edition

This is the big one. As much as money can buy when it comes to the various available versions of Armored Core 6. Everything you've already seen but your figurine gets a massive garage to sit in.

  • MELANDER C3 G13 Special Customization

Additional Content

  • Armored Core figurine and garage
  • Steelbook
  • Artbook
  • Digital soundtrack
  • Stickers

This is the one. The Premium Collector's Edition. Yes, it's a lot of money, but if FromSoftware continues the current pattern, it'll be at least 12 years until we get a new Armored Core game. $450 for something you won't get again for well over a decade and it doesn't seem like that extravagant an expenditure. Unless you're prone to picking up collector's editions though, of course, and you're currently surrounded by various video game statues. Costs a lot, but damn, it looks really, really good.

FAQ

Will Armored Core 6 Be Like Dark Souls?

FromSoftware has insisted Armored Core 6 will not be a Souls game, even though that's what the studio is best known for. However, its gameplay and the terms used certainly makes it look like a Souls game with mechs.

What Platforms Will Armored Core 6 Be Available On?

Despite the gradual move to current-gen only, Armored Core 6 will be available on PS4 and Xbox One as well as PS5 and Series X|S. It will also be available on PC but will not be launching on Nintendo Switch.

What Armored Core Game Should I Start With?

When a series is dormant for as long as Armored Core has been, there will naturally be people keen to pick up Fires of Rubicon that haven't played any prior Armored Core games before. Armored Core 3 may well be the most accessible and doesn't require you to have played the first two games. The only problem is none of the older games are readily available on the newest platforms.
